LUCIA LYNN

Soprano Lucia Lynn , composed and performed SONG FOR KATRINA which accompanies the Melody Golding exhibition: KATRINA MISSISSIPPI WOMEN REMEMBER. The haunting and painfully beautiful song is testament to the loss of life and a way of life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It accompanies Melody's film currently on view at The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.

Soprano Lucia Lynn "possesses a remarkable voice that is charaterized by shimmering beauty and a seemingly limitless upper range". Best known for her performances in premieres of new pieces, Miss Lynn performed the role of Jessica the tree spirit in the premiere of "The Tree" written by Peter Wing Healy and Linda Dowdell, at the historic Los Angeles Theatre Center. Miss Lynn was the featured soloist in Sean GRiffin's SNOW QUEEN with the La Jolla Symphony and the COLLAPSE OF BEL CANTO by Sean Griffin for the Armand Hammer Museum's New Music Series in Los Angeles. For the Natchez Opera Festival, she debuted as Ann in The TWILIGHT OF MAGIC by Edith Hemingway and as Madame Goldentrill in Mozart's THE IMPESARIO.

Passionate about bringing opera to children, she is a frequent performer with Guild Opera in Los Angeles, with roles including the title roles in LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD by Barab and Robert Chaul's ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Equally at home in Baroque music, Miss Lynn has been a featured soloist with the Mississippi Symphony's Baroque Music Festival.

Miss Lynn is the recipient of several awards including the Audience Choice Award at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and winner of the Nellie Morris Terry and Francis Paul Morris Vocal Competition at the Glendale Symphony Orchestra.

She is originally from Minnesota and Mississippi. Miss Lynn holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from California Institute of the Arts.
